The Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) will be the 17th season of India’s premier T20 competition. A total of 10 teams will be participating in the forthcoming edition of the IPL.
The IPL is the most famous and exciting cricket tournament of India. The IPL 2024 is expected to be started in March 23, 2024 to May 29, 2024. . The complete IPL 2024 Schedule will be soon disclosed by the BCCI.
The competition is likely to be held in India even though the general elections are scheduled to take place in the summer. In 2009 and 2014, the BCCI had to hold the competition outside the country due to the election. In 2009, the entire IPL was held in South Africa while in 2014, a part of the tournament was played in the United Arab Emirates. However, in 2019, the competition was held entirely in India despite the general elections and the BCCI is confident of conducting the IPL in the country this year as well.
Chennai Super Kings are the defending champions and will be eyeing a record sixth IPL title. They as well as Mumbai Indians will be eyeing to become the first team to win the IPL six times. With Chennai Super Kings being the defending champions, the final is set to take place in Chennai.
IPL 2024 Time Table
The BCCI is yet to announce the IPL 2024 time table. According to reports, the tournament is likely to be played from March 22 while the final is scheduled to take place on May 26.

IPL 2024: List of Teams and Captains
A total of ten teams will be participating in IPL 2024. While most of the teams have decided against making a change to the captaincy, some teams announced new captains. Here are all the changes to the captaincy of the IPL teams:
- Shubman Gill has replaced Hardik Pandya as the captain of Gujarat Titans after the allrounder sealed a move to Mumbai Indians.
- Hardik Pandya has been named as Mumbai Indians captain. He has replaced Rohit Sharma who was leading the team since 2013.
- Shreyas Iyer is set to take charge of the Kolkata Knight Riders. In 2023, Nitish Rana led the side in the absence of Iyer who was sidelined with a back injury.
- While David Warner led Delhi Capitals in 2023, he could be replaced by Rishabh Pant if the latter gets the clearance to play in IPL 2024.

IPL 2024: List of head coaches
There were some notable changes to the backroom staff of several IPL teams ahead of the brand new season. Here are some of the big changes.
- Justin Langer has replaced Andy Flower as the head coach of Lucknow Super Giants.
- Andy Flower has been appointed as the head coach of Royal Challengers Bangalore.
- Gautam Gambhir parted ways with Lucknow Super Giants and has been appointed as the mentor of Kolkata Knight Riders.
- Sanjay Bangar was appointed by Punjab Kings as the Head of Cricket Development.
- Daniel Vettori replaced Brian Lara as head coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad.
