FIFA appointed Indonesia to host the tournament after Peru decided to withdraw. The Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) gave up its hosting status, because it was unable to fulfill its commitment to complete the infrastructure to hold the 2023 U-17 World Cup.

The plan is that the 2023 U-17 World Cup will take place from 10 November to 2 December 2023. There will be a total of 52 matches played in four different stadiums: Gelora Bung Tomo, Si Jalak Harupat, Jakarta International Stadium, and Manahan.

The 2023 U-17 World Cup will be attended by 24 teams from six confederations in the world. To win tickets to the U-17 World Cup, each team must compete in its confederation tournament.

The four best teams in the event will represent pre football their confederation at the U-17 World Cup. In the final round, the team that wins the group and runners-up will qualify for the last 16.

The other four teams will enter the knock-out phase of the 2023 U-17 World Cup, selected based on the small standings of the third placers from each group.
