Cerva Suraksha: Empowering Women’s Health in Rural India

The V Guard Foundation and Christian Hospital Society, with Fiinovation of Delhi, launch ‘Cerva Suraksha’ in Uttar Pradesh’s Etah. This CSR project addresses cervical cancer through screening and awareness initiatives, offering rural women essential healthcare access and education.

In a significant stride towards enhancing women’s health in rural India, the V Guard Foundation and Christian Hospital Society have rolled out a CSR project named ‘Cerva Suraksha’ in Etah, Uttar Pradesh. This initiative focuses on cervical cancer screening and awareness among women.

Despite cervical cancer being a major cause of cancer deaths among Indian women, the disease often goes undetected in rural areas due to lack of awareness, inadequate healthcare, and social stigma. In Etah, poverty and limited healthcare accessibility exacerbate the issue. Fiinovation, a Delhi-based CSR consultancy, supports the project, which promises comprehensive screening and awareness campaigns aimed at early detection and education for up to 2,400 women.

Christian Hospital Society, known for providing quality healthcare in underserved areas, will manage the project on the ground with support from Fiinovation, which brings technical expertise. The project employs Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid (VIA) and PAP Smear testing for accurate diagnosis. The initiative will also mobilize ASHA and Anganwadi workers to encourage participation. Dr. Soumitro Chakraborty, CEO of Fiinovation, emphasizes the project’s focus on education and community outreach to maximize impact.

This Fiinovation CSR project marks a landmark in battling cervical cancer in India, offering hope and a healthier future for women in Etah. ‘Cerva Suraksha’ symbolizes how corporations can address significant societal challenges, empowering women through knowledge and resource access. Their participation sets a precedent for prioritizing health and adopting healthier lifestyles.
