It is only a 12 km trek and it can be completed in 4-5 hours, depending upon the speed of the trekker. It is a three day trek, if you were to consider the starting point to be Kasol, and if you choose to spend the night at the Kheerganga camp after the 5 hour trek.

The trek will have you move through dense forests, hear the roaring milky complexioned Parvati river flow by on your side, or give you an experience of a Himachali village lifestyle, depending on the path you opt for the trek. The most preferred route is via Nakthan village, which is the shortest route and you will reach Kheerganga in about 3-4 hours. Through this route, you will get to experience the gushing Parvati river on the left side. The second option is via Kalga village, and this route is the one that will have you trek through dense pine forests. This route will ensure your protection from harsh sunlight. This route is not that known and will not be crowded, if that’s something you’re looking for. Another path is the one that goes through Tosh village, which is taken up by trekkers who want to stay the night there and start their trek the next morning.

Barshaini to Kheerganga: Embarking on a Serene Trek to Nature’s Bliss
The Kheerganga trek begins with the arrival at Barshaini, a small village which is the base camp for the trek. The starting point is at the dam over the Parvati river in Barshaini. Barshaini can be reached by a bus or a taxi from Kasol. Upon reaching Kheerganga, trekkers can take in the timelessness of the beauty of nature. To have an experience of a lifetime, it is suggested that you camp at Kheerganga for the night, and have a chance to view a clear, brilliant starlit sky, and the majestic snow-capped mountains across the Parvati Valley. The most ideal time to visit would be from March to June and September to October, as winter and monsoon make the trek to be a perilous one, owing to slippery and muddy terrain. The Kheerganga trek is marked as an easy to moderate level trek, with slight incline and decline being present throughout the terrain.
