Sockets: Weapon Skill, Weapon CRIT (for channelling), Armour Skill, and Weapon DEF. Earring Skill, Ring Skill, and Bracelet Skill. This shield provides the following advantages:
- It can double as a full-soul, unmodified Elemental Shield. While this works too well in most cases, it is still a good shield.
- Chance of socketing, if you fail to socket a socket you should be using for shield at all, is significantly better.
- Sockets added at Item level 20, or 9 sliver, enables the use of any god-type socket. Elemental Sockets are very hard to come by, and it is much easier to find any of the other god-types, like Regal, Magic and Mystic.
Also, a Boreas Shield with T64 Multi-Sliver, and Triple T80 (from 1481 to 1484) provides a very high number of resistances, causing some talents that previously didn’t matter to be much better. Finally, it provides re-rolling your criticals.
Now, a Triple T50s Boreas Shield grants the same resistances and your Criticals have >100% chance of being re-rolled because you have a Triple Soul Shield. Triple T80s provides that plus the added resistance of 3 (almost 3 extra Resistances).
There is also the option to socket 3 or 6 of any type of soul on a weapon. This can increase effectiveness or provide some resistance if you need them, but be careful. The damage does come with a heavy loss of weapon damage.
A Boreas Longsword is good as you want more souls from all sources, but trading DP for a better Shield is unnecessary seeing as the difference between Adranos Arms and Kishar Kiteshield is not large at all, and the in-game Souls bonus is insignificant as the larger portion of the soul bonus comes from crits.
