the name of the surah has come from its content. similar to muslim ummah, the jews and christians, which struggle with each other for the possession of the ark of the covenant in jewish mythology, the two angels who guard the ark were named yaseen. the story of the two angels is one of the most important themes of jewish and christian traditions, it explains their mutual animosity and also the benevolence of god. however, in islam, the term yaseen is a reference to the angel of death. the name of surah yaseen is said to have been given by prophet muhammad (pbuh), as he saw the company of two angels with him, once he ascended the pulpit and said: now listen to the two angels, yaseen. this is the urdu name of surah yaseen. in fact, a person who sees a person of the deceased or thinks of someone who is in a position to receive anything from them, if he had the love for them, he would ask them about one of the most important aspect of his life and why they did not listen to him. when asked about their children, they would tell him that they did not have any.
the qur’aan mentions al-buraq once. this refers to the steed on which prophet ibrahim (as) rode from mecca to the heavens with him. the steed was a gift from allah to the prophet (as) as a sign of grace. the steed was acquired on a bargain basis by ibraheem (as) when the angel of night, in the form of a human being, first appeared to him. the angel said to ibraheem (as),: allah (swt) has promised to me that he would create a beast, on which i will ride; and, if i am put to trial, he will gather me to him. ibraheem (as) agreed and gave him the responsibility of fetching the steed from the morn.’ a short time later, the angel was brought to ibraheem (as). there, the angel exchanged the mission of the steed for that of the sheep. the angel told ibraheem (as),: allah (swt) has promised to me that he will create a sheep, on which i will ride; and if i am put to trial, he will gather me to him, and may he show me mercy
